Steps to HOPE’s holiday brunch was held at the Green River Plantation in Rutherfordton on December 10th. More than 50 volunteers received certificates of appreciation for their contributions during the July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019 fiscal year.
Of those volunteers, five very special ladies received special recognition and a special gift for working the most number of hours at Second Chance Thrift Store. These ladies are Bernardine Monroe, Sally McPherson, Ruby Drew, Marcie Mack and Kristina Provines.
Other volunteers who help in the offices at Steps to HOPE, with special events such as The Hope Golf Classic and the Purple Party Domestic Violence Awareness Walk and those who offer their services in other ways were also recognized and celebrated. Each volunteer who was present received a movie ticket and a couple of small gifts. Several attendees also won door prizes that included gift certificates donated by local restaurants and entertainment venues.
It is with our deepest gratitude that we thank each and every person who gives their time, talent and efforts to Steps to HOPE and/or Second Chance Thrift Store in any way. Our important mission of preventing domestic violence and sexual assault in our community and providing shelter and treatment to victims and their children is made possible in large part by the people who volunteer.
If you are interested in joining this elite group of fantastic people, volunteer opportunities are always available at Steps to HOPE and at Second Chance Thrift Store. Please call Jessica Cashwell, Volunteer Coordinator at 828-894-2340 for more information. Visit www.stepstohope.org for more information.
