Van in Black is a family owned and operated business based locally here in the foothills of WNC. Ryan Watts along with his wife Terri agreed to make their dream a reality. 

 

Ryan did not begin with a dream of having a successful tourist excursion. After moving to the foothills in 1999, he spent most of his life, thirty years to be exact, working for IT companies, eighteen of them driving back and forth from the NC to Atlanta. Following his IT career, Watts then found himself as chief information security officer for a local company. 

 

When Ryan realized his happiness was no longer in a career looking at a computer, he and Terri decided it was time to find something that would bring joy to their lives. They looked at their lives and asked two questions; “What do we have?” and “What do we like?”

 

After discussing options, they recalled they had a large Sprinter van from a previous unrealized dream that could be used for a business. Thus, Van in Black was born. 

 

Since opening the Van in Black Company, they have seen growth in all areas of need for transportation. Both Ryan and his wife Terri serve as main drivers for the Van in Black events. 

 

They offer service to those in need of a ride, from local drives to the very popular winery tours. 

 

The Watts describe the business as a local transportation company that provides luxury and affordable transportation to Western North Carolina and the Upstate of South Carolina.

 

After being in business for about a year, they are about to add an additional vehicle to the fleet due to the increasing demand of events that have been booked. 

 

They provide winery tours, scenic rides and airport shuttles to GSP, AVL and CLT. They do not have a set list of transportation uses, as they will be happy to provide transit to anything that may need a safe, luxurious and affordable means of transportation.
