Over 2,000 bicyclists coming through Tryon, Columbus and Saluda

TRYON—There will be over 2,000 bicycle riders coming through Tryon, Columbus and Saluda on Saturday, Oct. 19 for the Hincapie Gran Fondo race. 

Riders will come around Lake Lanier and through Tryon around 10 a.m. when the streets will be closed.

The first stop for the riders will be at the Nature Storehouse in Tryon. Traffic will be impacted in Tryon from around 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. when the road will be closed through downtown. 

From the lake, riders will go through Tryon along U.S. 176 and either take the 50-mile route, which goes up the Saluda grade, into Saluda and then onto Greenville Street to go back to Hotel Domestique in Traveler’s Rest, S.C. 

The 80-mile route will take riders from Tryon to Columbus and up White Oak Mountain, then back to Tryon and up U.S. 176 to Saluda, then to Greenville Street and back to Hotel Domestique. 

The annual event will bring riders from 49 states and 19 countries this year, including Lance Armstrong.
