Tryon Painters & Sculptors Celebrates the 50th Anniversary Finale

Published 11:45 pm Monday, September 9, 2019

From the humble beginning of Tryon Painters & Sculptors (TPS) in 1968 with 20 member artists to becoming a viable part of the arts community, TPS has maintained its mission of providing members with opportunities and resources for artists’ growth. The benefit to the community as a whole is enjoying the work of these emerging artists and guest artists, attending show opening receptions and shopping for art and gifts.

TPS is now a 190 member non-profit arts organization offering classes, workshops and gallery shows to members as well as the community at large. The gallery at 78 Trade Street in Tryon includes a gift shop and gallery space as well as workspace for painters and sculptors.

As a non-profit, we are responsible for raising all funds to support our location and the work within these four walls. Thanks to the Polk County Community Foundation, we offer free classes for first time attendees which are defined on our web site.

Even though our 50th anniversary was in 2018 we decided to celebrate for a full year with a finale in August 2019. We have so much to celebrate we could not do it at one event.

Caitlyn Farms will come alive when art meets jazz in late September. Ole’74 Jazz Band and a wine reception in this lovely setting will be the grand finale as well as the beginning of another successful year for Tryon Painters and Sculptors.
