What happens in a book club?

Rehearsals for Tryon Little Theater’s “The Book Club Play” are well under way, and two newcomers to the TLT family will be making their debuts at the Workshop Theater on opening night, September 19.

 

Alaina Goode is a senior at Rutherford Early College High School. She has enjoyed acting with Rutherford County Arts Council since she was in 5th grade. Goode has worked with Director Nancy Winker before and says it’s a great pleasure to be working with her again.

Luke Laughter attended Landrum High School. He performed theater all through his four years there. Currently preparing to go into the Navy, he is thrilled to be a part of “The Book Club Play” even though he hasn’t done a play since his senior year.

 

The play itself is a comedy about books, and the members of a book club who are the subjects of a documentary filmmaker. Laughter’s character, Alex, is a provocative new member to the club, and he upsets the dynamics of the group with sometimes hilarious results. Book clubs are like Vegas in a way – what happens in book club, should stay in book club—but not always…
