This group of young musicians made debuts in the 2018-2019 season in the Peter Jay Sharp Concert of Young Concert Artists at Merkin Concert Hall in New York City and in Washington, D.C., at the Kennedy Center. They have won prestigious awards, including YCA International Auditions, the Fischoff National Competition, the Premio Paolo Borciani Competition in Italy, Trondheim International Competition in Norway, and the Bordeaux Competition in France.

The players are Mason Yu and Erica Tursi, violins; Jinsun Hong, viola; and Alex Coe, cello. Having met as students at the Cleveland Institute of Music, the members completed a graduate residency at the New England Conservatory and are currently the Doctoral Fellowship String Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Maryland. New York’s Caramoor Center for Music and Arts hosted the group this season as well, also as String Quartet-in-Residence.

Their 2018-2019 season has taken the quartet to the Bravo! Vail Music Festival, the Princeton University Summer Chamber Concert Series, and many other venues in the United States. The group also performed at Chamber Music Abu Dhabi.

Deemed a “first-rate ensemble of young artists”(Oberon’s Grove), the Omer Quartet has been praised for its “invigorating interpretation … sense of discovery and adventure, [and] also considerable finesse.” (San Diego Union Tribune
