The Polk County, NC, health and wellness coalition — Polk Fit, Fresh and Friendly (PF3) — will host a free community HealthTalk on Thursday, July 25, at 5:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Isothermal Community College in Columbus. St. Luke’s Hospital’s new CEO Michelle Fortune will be the guest speaker. The public is invited to attend, meet the new CEO and learn more about changes underway to improve St. Luke’s Hospital and its services to the community. A question and answer opportunity will be provided.
“Offering free community HealthTalks is something new PF3 is trying,” PF3’s Executive Director Haley Suskauer said. “We want to engage the local community in conversations about their health and wellbeing. We want to provide good solid information that will benefit their health and make wellness a top priority. PF3 is a nonprofit agency with a large membership that includes nearly every health-related agency in Polk County. Our goal is simple: work together to make Polk County a healthier community. I invite everyone to come and learn about what can be done to live healthier lives.”
“St. Luke’s proudly remains a not-for-profit locally owned and operated community hospital, uniquely innovative in its approach to modern healthcare,” Fortune said. “By hiring nationally recognized Atrium Health to provide various services that strengthen our organization, we created a connection to a national system that empowers us to provide value, benefits and state-of-the-art technology that contribute to the health and wellness of Polk County.”
The St. Luke’s Hospital network includes a pain center, chemo and infusion services, general surgery, primary and specialty care at Foothills Medical Associates, Saluda Family Medicine and Rosenberg Bone and Joint, an onsite rehabilitation center, lab, radiology and a geriatric psychiatry department.
St. Luke’s Hospital is a community hospital that provides immediate access to high quality emergency, acute medical/surgical and geriatric care. St. Luke’s provides diagnostic and medical services using the latest technology and the greatest compassion for its patients and families. With an all-volunteer Board of Trustees who live in Polk County, St. Luke’s is dedicated to providing exceptional care close to home.
