Tryon Summer Youth Theater presents “Matilda the Musical”, opening at the Tryon Fine Arts Center with a Gala preview party on Wednesday, July 17, followed by performances July 18-21.

The young actors have spent weeks learning their lines, learning complicated songs, and even more complex choreography—then put them all together—and are now ready to showcase their talent.  Thanks to local donors, sponsors, and an anonymous donor through the Polk County Community Foundation, ticket prices are kept low so that families, friends, and neighbors can afford to enjoy the show.

Based on the 1988 children’s novel by Roald Dahl, it was adapted for the stage by Dennis Kellywith music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, and has won numerous awards. Tryon’s production is directed by Chris Tinkler, with musical direction by Pam McNeil, and choreographby Missy FincherTryon Summer Youth Theater is a collaboration between Tryon Little Theater and the Tryon Fine Arts Center.
