SALUDA—On Monday July 8, the City of Saluda approved the new amendments and changes to the Zoning Ordinance Amendments as they were presented.

Jon Cannon, Saluda City Manager, said that the changes focus on clarifying obscure language in the Zoning Ordinance.

The first amendment made to the zoning ordinance for the city pertained to Signs in C-H Commercial District, Cannon said that the previous language in the ordinance did not give the City the proper legal standing to enforce its own ordinancesThere were several lines that were changed as they pertain to the language on the Right of Ways in residential areas. Cannon stated that several residents had used the obscurity in the previous language to get the best possible Right of Way and setback for themselves.

There were no public comments made in regards to the proposed amendments at the time.

In addition to the amendments on the Zoning Ordinance, the Board approved several amendments in their SDF Agreements as they pertained to the Small Town Main Street program. The City of Saluda opted to leave the Small Town Main Street program last month, and in doing so had to make the necessary changes to the SDF agreements to remove any mention of the Small Town Main Street program.
