Lauren Mitchell to perform as Summer Tracks July 12
Published 11:01 pm Monday, July 8, 2019
The 20th Anniversary Season of Tryon’s most popular summer event – Summer Tracks – continues on Friday, July 12, with the Lauren Mitchell Band.
Hailing from Central Florida, this band is known for their high-energy concoction of blues and soul. Like the legendary female singers she most admires – Etta James, Koko Taylor, Janis Joplin and Aretha Franklin – the band’s lead singer Lauren Mitchell gives audiences everything she has and then some. Her latest album “Desire”, was produced by Tony Braunagel (Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, Robert Cray). Through a bold mix of original material, songs she hand-picked from the repertoires of her friends, and select covers, Mitchell tells a blues story that’s been a lifetime in the making
“Desire” spent ten weeks in the top five on the Roots Music Report Soul charts, including two weeks at number one and was listed as the number six top Soul album for 2017 on the same chart. The album has received accolades from some of the best in the blues world. She also received two Blues Blast Nominations for the album (Best Soul/Blues Album & Sean Costello Rising Star Award) along with numerous other credits.
All shows begin at 7 p.m. In case of rain the concerts will move across the street inside the spacious Tryon Fire Dept.
This year’s expanded seven-concert series is presented by New View Reality of Tryon. The series’ co-producers are the Town of Tryon and Peter Eisenbrown. Bonnie Brae Veterinary Hospital is sponsoring this third concert.
Summer Tracks concerts are free, though a voluntary donation at the gate is encouraged. Audience donations along with the support of many local businesses and individuals make these shows possible. Water and soft drinks will be for sale plus alcohol consumption is allowed in the park but is not for sale.
