Fabulous Fourth of July Festival

The Town of Columbus is celebrating its 57th year for the Fabulous 4th of July festival with a day full of music and entertainment for everyone! The Fabulous 4th will be held on Thursday, July 4th. The planning committee scheduled performances and events for the whole family and for all types of interests. The celebration will include kid’s amusement rides and games, an antique car show, great food, arts and crafts, commercial vendors, a patriotic Veteran’s hour at noon and music on stage all day. 

The 4th of July kicks off at 10 a.m. with the opening ceremony, which includes the presentation of the colors by the Polk County Honor Guard followed by the National Anthem sung by Anita Williamson. The stage will be filled with local community talent beginning at 10:10 a.m. with New Harmony, a family Gospel group and at 11 a.m. with Patrick Ballard performing guitar blues, patriotic songs, and banjo tunes. 

The Antique Car Show will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Gibson St. adjacent to the courthouse. The Little Detroit Car Club of the Great Smoky Mountain Region Car Club is sponsoring the Antique Car Show. People’s choice awards will be presented at 3 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to stop by during the day and vote for their favorite antique car.

The farmers market will be set up on Main Street and will run all day beginning at 10 a.m. 

Kids games will be set up on the lawn of Stearn’s Park and run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The family fun and games are sponsored by Cross Roads Baptist Church. 

The amusement rides will be operating on Stearn’s lawn from Wednesday, July 3rd from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on July 4th from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Veteran’s hour will run from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. on the stage and will include presentations by members of the American Legion and the VFW. Patriotic songs will be sung by Anita Williamson, Betty Taylor, and other singers throughout the Veteran’s program. 

Talented bands and singers will perform music including pop, rock, blues and originals on stage from 1:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. Michael Crisp will sing and play guitar to your favorite oldies and contemporary music at 1 p.m. At 2:30 p.m. Lovely World rock band will perform their unique ethereal, intense rock n’ roll set. At 4:00 p.m. Crescent Moon Blues with Red Dog will perform a blend of unique blue and rock with a jazzy swirl. 

At 5:35 p.m. Dixie Dirt with John Edney will perform their set of classic rock, southern rock and blues. At 7:10 Project-X will perform their solid set of classic rock, rock and originals. At 8:45 Blues Underground will perform their high-energy rock, classic rock, and blues to drive home the exciting evening. 

The Star Spangled Banner will be performed Anita Williamson followed by the launching of the fireworks at 9:45 pm!
