MILL SPRING – Reverend Robert Hughey Orr, Jr., 62, of Mill Spring, went home to be with 

the Lord, Friday morning, June 7, 2019 at his home. 

 

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Robert H. Orr and Alice Lloyd Orr. Rev. 

Orr graduated from Pickens High School and went on to graduate Anderson College and Central Wesleyan College. He surrendered to preach in 1985 and pastored Snow Creek Baptist Church, Seneca, SC, Southside Baptist Church, Honea Path, SC and in 1993 came to Big Level Baptist 

Church until his death. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, lapidary and taught lapidary at Tryon Arts and Crafts. 

 

Surviving is his loving wife of 40 years, Connie Howard Orr; one son, Jeremy Orr (Jessica) of 

Mill Spring; one daughter, Amanda McComas (Rob) of Mill Spring; three grandchildren, Alice Orr, Minda McComas and Elliott Orr; one brother, Johnny Orr (Mary Lou) of Liberty; one sister, Lonita Orr of Easley. 

 

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Big Level Baptist Church 

with Mr. Randy McGuinn, Mr. Danny Siegfried and Rev. Brian Wilson officiating. 

The family will receive friends prior to the service Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the church. 

 

Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

 

Memorials may be made to Big Level Baptist Church Building Fund, 4940 Big Level Road, Mill 

Spring, NC 28756.
