Harry and Zinnia are Matilda’s parents. What a perfect little family unit. Oh, it all looks hunky dory on the surface when they’re posing for a family picture like this, but you’ll find out how it really is when you buy your ticket and put your bottom in a seat at the Tryon Fine Arts Center for the Tryon Summer Youth Theater’s production of “Matilda, the Musical”.
Arianna Wood plays Matilda, Ellie Booth is Mrs. Wormwood, and Liam Daniels is Mr. Wormwood. Based on Roald Dahl’s novel, the story is about young Matilda who has to endure cruel and distant parents, as well as a tyrant of a principle at school. Luckily for her, she realizes she has some pretty amazing powers.
A collaboration between Tryon Little Theater and the Tryon Fine Arts Center, the Tryon Summer Youth Theater show runs July 18-21 at TFAC, with a gala on July 17, and is directed by Chris Tinkler, with musical direction from Pam McNeil and choreography by Missy Fincher.
With generous grants through the Polk County Community Foundation, and donations and sponsorships from community members, all show tickets are greatly reduced in price to allow families to enjoy the theater experience.
