ROBERT EARLE ARLEDGE

TRYON – Robert Earle Arledge, 89, of Tryon passed away peacefully Thursday morning, May 30, 2019 at White Oak Manor of Tryon surrounded by his family. 

 

Born in Tryon, he was the son of the late Birch and Janie Hudson Arledge. He was owner of Tryon Plumbing, member of First Baptist Church Tryon for many years, member of Tryon Volunteer Fire Dept., a life-time member of N.C. Fire Chiefs Association and former member of Tryon Lions Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Arledge and a sister, Louise Powell. 

 

Surviving is his loving wife of 62 years, Ruth Ann Littlefield Arledge; one daughter, Donna A. Moffitt (Mike) of Rutherfordton; granddaughter, Halie Moffitt (fiancé, Andrew Swift) of Winston-Salem; grandson, Blake Moffitt of Asheville; three sisters, Marie A. Barton, Karen Carruth (Ken) and Nancy Lewellyn (Mike); one brother, James Arledge (Fannie); sister-in-law, Jane Hood. Also surviving are ten nieces and eight nephews. 

 

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 2, 2019 in First Baptist Church of Tryon with Dr. Jeff Harris and Rev. Mike Lewellyn officiating. 

 

The family will receive friends prior to the service Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the church. 

 

Interment will follow in the church memorial gardens.
