Campobello man arrested for stabbing girlfriend

Man accused of holding girlfriend against her will Friday 

 

CAMPOBELLO—A Campobello, S.C. man was charged over the weekend for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend and holding her against her will, according to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Christopher Alan Shipman, 35, of 200 Strickland Rd., Campobello, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and battery, kidnapping, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and petit larceny less than $2,000, according to sheriff reports.  

Shipman is accused of holding his girlfriend against her will between 11 p.m. Friday and 2:40 a.m. Saturday. The incident occurred in the 400 block of Floyd Road in Spartanburg, according to arrest warrants.  

Shipman allegedly pushed, punched and stabbed his girlfriend with a knife, as well as stole her purse, according to reports. Her condition is not known.  

Shipman was arrested Sunday and as of Tuesday was still in custody. No bond had been set as of Tuesday, according to the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
