Landrum getting electric charging station  

LANDRUM—The City of Landrum will soon be installing an electric charging station on North Trade Avenue. An electric vehicle charging station, are also known as an EV charging station. The EV charging station in Landrum will allow electric vehicles, hybrids and fully electric vehicles, to plug in while they visit the downtown Landrum area.  

EV charging stations are provided in municipal parking locations by electric utility companies or at retail shopping centers. These stations provide universal connectors that conform to a variety of electric charging ports and vehicles.  

Electric vehicles offer a multitude of benefits to both their users and the community. Electric vehicles are a valuable resource because they emit zero air pollution, they are quiet, and have a very significantly reduced carbon footprint from standard vehicles that burn fossil fuels.  

City Administrator Rich Caplan said that the charging station should be ready within a few weeks.
