Polk bus involved in wreck

9 students taken to hospital as a precaution

MILL SPRING—A Polk County School bus transporting middle and high school students was involved in a wreck Tuesday morning.

 

Polk County Schools Superintendent Aaron Green said there were 9 middle and high school students on the bus at the time of the accident, which occurred at approximately 7 a.m. Tuesday.

The bus was 119 and was traveling along Fire Tower Road in Mill Spring. There was one car involved.

“We do not believe there are any serious injuries,” Greene said early Tuesday morning. “The students were taken either by parents or ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital as a precaution.”

The driver of the bus was not injured.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol was on scene and is investigating the crash.
