Local non-profit Growing Rural Opportunities will host a Mother’s Day celebration at the Columbus Farmers’ Market on Saturday, May 11th.
The Market, supported by a grant through The Polk County Community Foundation, will move to the historic Courthouse Lawn for this special day. The Market is open from 8:00 a.m. until noon, every Saturday through October.
Bring the whole family to meet their favorite small barnyard animals; baby chicks, rabbits and dwarf Nigerian goats are all coming to Market. Shop for local, farm-fresh produce and ingredients, and artisan gifts for the mamas in your life. Customers will have the chance to go home with a bouquet of local flowers from Moss & Thistle Flower Farm.
From 9 – 11 am, enjoy live Folk and Bluegrass music from Crosswise, and local youth Christian singer and guitar player, Amanda Campbell. While you listen to live music, make a one-of-a-kind gift, for mom or with her. Join Jessica Clark of Foster Hill Farm to make a custom 12″ x 12″ Barn Quilt. Jessica will have several easy, kid-friendly patterns available to choose from, along with sweet sayings or personal messages you can add.
