Would you be the voice of a child?

Could you be the voice of a child? The Guardian ad Litem program is currently seeking volunteers to be voices for children that have been removed from their home. The cause of these children to be removed is no fault of their own. They have been removed because their parents have engaged in domestic violence, abused illegal substances, had untreated mental health issues or the children has been physically abused.

Unfortunately these children have had to pay the ultimate penalty by being taken away from their surroundings. They are placed in foster care or in kinship placement. The role of Guardian Ad Litem is to advocate, represent the best interest of the child and most importantly ensure that the child’s voices are heard in court.

Polk County has a need for additional Guardian Ad Litem advocates. There is no experience necessary and we will provide all the training and support. Being a Guardian Ad Litem is a challenging and demanding role but can be incredibly rewarding as you ensure the child’s voice is heard in court.
