Published 11:23 pm Tuesday, May 7, 2019

On Friday, May 17, join the Hemlock Restoration Initiative (HRI) and Conserving Carolina for a hemlock-centric hike at the beautiful Florence Nature Preserve.

HRI and Conserving Carolina will lead hikers on a 3.5-mile round-trip hike to and through the scenic preserve, protected by Conserving Carolina in 1996. We will discuss hemlock ecosystems, the hemlock woolly adelgid, what HRI is doing to control the adelgid, and how you can help.

This hike will run from 9:00 a.m. to noon, meeting at the Upper Hickory Nut Gorge Trailhead in Gerton, NC. It is free to all, but please RSVP on the HRI website: SaveHemlocksNC.org, or by calling 828-252-4783.
