TRYON—On Sunday the Tryon Seventh-day Adventist Church will be hosting a car/truck/motorcycle show that is free to the public. The event features vehicles a wide range of vehicles and it is free to enter. NASCAR Chaplain John Earnhardt is the organizer for the event and will be bringing one of his 1956 Micro Midget racecars.
Earnhardt is a Chaplain for the NASCAR and is involved with several of their community outreach programs such as, NASCAR’s Motor Racing Outreach and Raceway Ministry.
Earnhardt has been organizing car shows through the NASCAR programs for the last eight years. “We do two to three car shows a year, but this will be our first one in Tryon,” Earnhardt said. “We host them just about anywhere that has a large enough parking area and close to a town or community area.”
“The show is free for everyone. The cars can enter for free and people can come out and enjoy the show for free,” Earnhardt said. “We invite any car from any age, usually anything over 30 to 35 years. We like to see fully restored cars and cars that are still in the restoration process.”
There will be drawings for prizes roughly every 30 minutes for giveaways. John and Crystal Earnhardt will also be giving away free copies of their book, The 7 Flags of NASCAR. The judges will award the three best vehicles from the show with a signed photo of Dale Earnhardt Sr.
John Earnhardt will be bringing two vehicles of his own to show. One is a 1956 Model Midget that he raced when he was a kid, and the second is a 14 foot long Trike that has a Chevy V8 engine.
The event starts at 1:00 p.m. at the Tryon Seventh-day Adventist Church located at 2820 Lynn Rd, Tryon. For more information on the event or to enter a vehicle, call (864)-985-2908.
