Proceeds from Poker Walk to benefit Trevor Arrowood 

 

TRYON—The Tryon Downtown Development Association invites the community come out on Friday April 26 for a Guys Night Out and a Poker Walk for Trevor Arrowood, Police Chief Arrowood’s son. Trevor is battling a rare form of cancer and the proceeds from the Poker Walk will go to support him and his family as he fights the disease.

The Poker Walk will be spread out through downtown Tryon at participating stores, participants pick up a playing card at the stores and make a donation in exchange, (TDDA suggests $5 per card) no purchase in the store is required. The donations go to Trevor.  

Prizes will be awarded for the best and worst hands of the night; awards will be presented at Saint Luke’s Plaza at 7 p.m. The Town of Tryon is also sponsoring live music with the Double Knight Spies at Saint Luke’s Plaza.  

Stores and galleries in Downtown Tryon stay open late every fourth Friday with special events and activities that are open to the public. There is a monthly gallery show at Carri Bass Photography and Art Studio called “The Porch Artists” and a wine tasting at The Tryon Bottle.  

Local restaurants such as McGourt’s Pub and Harper Eatery & Pub will have live music and entertainment. There are also special Guys Night Out events that will be taking place. Chef Jonny from 2 Chefs Catering will be dishing out two appetizers that will include products from the store (A Taste of Olives and Grapes): steak crostini featuring chipotle olive oil and a cucumber round topped with whipped cream cheese infused with meyer lemon olive oil. The store will also have free beer tasting with Deushutes Black Butte Porter with a espresso balsamic glazed bacon.  

Carolina Confections (Tryon Toymakers) will be offering 10% off any purchase of $20 or less. They will also have a display of Mother’s Day gift suggestions with the added benefit of 10% off on pre-orders of Mother’s Day Petits Fours, that offer is only available on Friday during the Fourth Friday event.   

The Book Shelf will be hosting an author during the event. Author of two children’s books, “How Far Away is Heaven” and “Where in the World is Thailand?” Margaret Davis Ledford will be in The Book Shelf during the Fourth Friday event.  

The Nest Artisan Market will have acupuncture with Clover Acupuncture and Wellness Studio.  

Lavender Bistro is offer $2.50 draft beer, they have all local craft beers along with live music and dinner specials. 

Huckleberry’s Tryon will be selling $0.50 Hot Dogs and $0.50 Huckleberry’s Meatballs.
