After two weeks of silence from our elected officials, I assume that there will be no action on Turner Shoals Dam or the School Teacher situation.

Here is the situation as I understand it.

Purchased Lake Adger / Turner shoals Dam for $1.5 Million.

Reclassified to a Water Shed to withdraw water for purification.

County authorized to withdraw 8 mgpd from the river below the Dam.

Cost of water purification plant unaffordable.  $17 million in 2014.

Northbrook generates approximately $ 1 million in revenue per year from electricity.

Polk County’s return—$0.

Mandatory repairs to the Turner Shoal Dam estimated to be $2.75 million over the next two years. Taxpayers expense..

Polk County Schools loose eight (8) teacher positions for next year.

Conclusion

Any tax increases in the future will indirectly go to Turner Shoals Dam

Lake Adger / Turner Shoals Dam—Win!

Polk County School Students ……….Loose!
