LANDRUM—On Monday April 8, Superintendent of Spartanburg District 1 Dr. Ron Garner asked the Board of Trustees for forgiveness for two snow days. Dr. Garner stated that the first three days have already been made up or are on course to be made up by the end of the school year either through usage of teacher workdays or other means.

“I am asking the board to consider that we had an early winter this year, we exceeded the number of allowed snow days. I am requesting that the school board forgive 1 day for the entire district” Dr. Garner said.

“The first three days must be made up and we are on course to do that. I will also ask (the Board) for an additional forgiveness day for Landrum High School. I ask that they be given an additional day for the missed day due to the damage from the snow to the roof.”

During the winter storms of late 2018 and early 2019 the Landrum High School roof above the band room appeared to take damage. The school was forced to take an additional snow day during that period to have the roof properly assessed to maintain student and faculty safety.

The Board of Trustees unanimously voted in favor of Dr. Garner’s proposal and granted the additional forgiveness days, the one day for the entire district and the day for Landrum High School.
