Wolverines bounce back to notch road shutout of Avery

Polk County bounced back from its first conference loss on Monday to hand Avery a 4-0 defeat Thursday in Newland.
The Wolverines, who dropped a 3-0 decision to Owen on Monday, improved to 6-2-3 overall, 4-1 in Western Highlands Conference play. Avery fell to 0-10, 0-5.
Caelan Gaul gave Polk County its first goal, firing a shot into the upper corner of the net on a pass from Reese Alley.
Belen Akers followed with a score before Mireya Roman put a shot into the back of the net on a rebound of a Jen Guerrero shot.
Taytem Johnson capped the scoring with a long-distance tally.
Sydney Waldman and Scout Harmon led a defense that helped goalkeeper Sara Muse record the shutout.
The Wolverines return to action on Monday, traveling to Mitchell for another WHC matchup.
