Jessica and Austin Cashwell will be on Ellen Degeneres’ show “The Game of Games” Tuesday night.

The Cashwells got married in April of last year and Austin signed up for the couple to be on the show, “The Wall.” After finding out that show had been cancelled, the Cashwells got a call to be on Ellen’s “Game of Games.”

They went to Los Angeles last June to tape the show and turned it into a vacation.

Jessica Cashwell said taping the show was so much fun and they got to meet and hug Ellen Degeneres

“We had some off days so we got to go to Disney Land and to Malibu,” Jessica Cashwell said.

The couple has not been able to say anything about their appearance on the show nor if they won anything. They plan to have a viewing party with close family and friends Tuesday night.

Jessica Cashwell, who is the Outreach Program Coordinator for Steps to HOPE in Columbus, said her favorite game show is Ellen’s Game of Games, so it could not have worked out better when they got the call.

In 2016, the Cashwells attended a taping of Family Feud in Atlanta, and got to meet Steve Harvey.

“It’s just a unique experience,” Jessica Cashwell said. “Ellen makes her show above the rest. It was the most fun we’ve ever had.”

She said there were Skype interviews and phone interviews to get on the show and they also had to go to the doctor to make sure they were healthy enough to be on the show.

Jessica Cashwell also said this week that watching a show from your couch in the living room is a much different experience than actually being on a show.

“We had the bright lights and the whole studio audience watching our every move,” she said. “It’s much different than sitting on a couch and watching from home.”

Austin Cashwell, originally from Greer, works at the Cliffs of Glassy as a wellness coordinator.
