Polk County rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit Wednesday to earn a 2-2 draw with Crest in a non-conference girls soccer match at G.M. Tennant Stadium.

Reese Alley scored twice in the second half as the Wolverines improved to 1-0-1. Polk County is slated to face R-S Central on Friday before meeting Hendersonville on Monday.

Crest (0-3) grabbed its halftime edge thanks largely to Madison Humphries, who struck twice from the right wing in the first half. Polk goalkeeper Sara Muse stopped a handful of other shots in the first half as well as early in the second as the Chargers largely enjoyed the edge throughout the first 50 minutes.

But the Wolverines began to press the Crest defense, getting their first break when Crest was whistled for a violation in the penalty area in the 56th minute. Alley took the penalty kick and easily hit a low roller into the left corner of the net to slice the Charger lead in half.

Polk County began controlling the ball largely in the Crest end, though the Chargers appeared to catch a break with 12:20 left as Mireya Roman appeared to be pushed while chasing a loose ball in the penalty area. But the Wolverines still got the equalizer moments later as Alley fought through a group of defenders and calmly pushed a shot from the left side of the box into the right corner of the net with 11:58 to play.

While the game officially ended in a tie, the two teams did spend the moments after the match taking penalty kicks.
