PCCF Supports Drug Free Communities Grant Training

Polk Fit, Fresh and Friendly, though its Polk Substance Abuse Coalition (PSAC) work group, is preparing to apply for a federal Drug Free Communities grant. This grant, which awards up to $125,000 per year for five years, provides funding to reduce substance abuse in youth and, over time, reduce substance abuse among adults in our community.
To prepare for grant submission, PSAC’s two principal grant writers recently attended an applicant workshop in Washington DC. Thanks to Polk County Community Foundation for providing funding to support travel for this training. Later this year, PF3 and PSAC hope to announce an actual DFC grant award along with plans for engaging the Polk community in working together to reduce substance abuse in Polk County.
