William C. Galish

Landrum —William C. Galish died February 25, 2019, in Landrum, S. C.  Bill was born May 9, 1920, in Central City, Pennsylvania, to William  and  Susan (Stupak) Galish.  He was the eleventh of twelve children.  He grew up in Central City, Pa., and graduated from Shade High School.  He proudly served four years in the 3rd Army during World War II. Shortly after his service in the Army, he and Jenny moved to Detroit, Michigan.  Mr. Galish retired from McLouth Steel in Detroit, Michigan.  After retiring, he and his devoted wife, Jenny,  relocated to Landrum, South Carolina.  Bill loved the Lord and was a staunch supporter of the Catholic faith.  He obtained the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Council Honor Guard.  

 

He is survived by his brother, Ed (AldaGalish of Manahawkin, New Jersey, and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceasing Bill was his devoted wife Genevieve Ridell Galish, his parents, four brothers, John, Joseph “Boots”, Stephen, and Tom Galish; seven sisters, Ann Knapp, Elizabeth Kubala, Helen Kowalsky,  Agnes Kowalsky, Theresa Fox, Marie Zinchak, and Sue Davis.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 1, 2019, at two o’clock at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 180 Laurel Street, Tryon, N.C.    

 

Memorials may be made to St John’s the Baptist Catholic Church, 180 Laurel Street, Tryon, N.C.  or St. John the Baptist Catholic Church/Our Lady Queen of Angels, 738 Sunshine Avenue, Central City, Pennsylvania 15926.
