Sheriff’s office arrests Columbus man   

 

COLUMBUS—The Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Columbus man this week on allegations of sexual assault involving a minor.  

Andrew Christopher Jones McKaig, of Mimosa Road, Columbus, was arrested and charged with felony taking indecent liberties with a child, felony sexual activity by a substitute parent or guardian and felony statutory sexual offense with a person who is 15 years of age or younger, according to sheriff’s office reports.  

The sheriff’s office said they investigated McKaig after allegations were made of a sexual assault involving a minor.  

McKaig was arrested on Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. without incident.  

McKaig was being held at the Polk County Detention Center as of Tuesday under a $160,000 secured bond.  

He was scheduled for his first court appearance on Wednesday in Polk County District Court.
