On Sunday, February 10th, Foothills Gymnastics Academy (FGA) sent six gymnasts to the Carolina Classic invitational in Columbia, SC. 

 

FGA’s Xcel Bronze gymnast, Genevieve Ard, was competing for her first time. She demonstrated a strong performance at her first meet with 1st place All-around score of 35.90. She also won 1st place on bars with a score of 9.45 and 1st place on the vault with a score of 9.20. 

 

FGA’s Xcel Silver team (Anna-Carlisle Keim, Caity Elledge, Zina Ishwar and Reeve Carroll) also performed well and earned 1st place team award with a score of 112.10. They demonstrated some beautiful routines and earned a number of medals. 

 

Caity brought home 4 gold medals with a score of 9.6 on bars, 9.7 on beam, 9.35 on floor and an All around score of 37.65. She earned a silver medal for her vault with a score of 9.00. Caity also received two judges’ trophies: one for having the highest score out of all age groups on beam and one for “judge’s choice” on floor.  

 

Reeve also had a strong performance that earned her 1st on bars with a 9.65, 1st on beam with a 9.65, 1st all-around with a 37.45, 3rd on vault and 5th on floor. She also received a judges trophy for highest score out of all age groups on the bars. 

 

Ann-Carlisle earned 2nd on bars with a 9.55, 2nd on beam with a 9.10, 2nd on floor with a 9.20, and 2nd all-around with a 36.65. 

 

Zina received 1st on vault, 3rd on bars with a 9.5, 3rd on floor with a 9.15 and 4th all-around with a 36.15. FGA’s Xcel Gold gymnast, 

 

Hurley Bell, also represented the team well by earning 1st all-around with a 37.40. She tied for 1st with a 9.30 on vault, earned a 1st on bars with a 9.60, 2nd on beam with a 9.1 and 2nd on floor with a 9.4. 

 

The coaches are proud of how far each of the girls has come this year. The girls will spend the next two weeks preparing for the Coastal Classic in Myrtle Beach, SC.
