Paul Harris Fellowships

On January 31st the Rotary Club of Tryon recognized the 41 Paul Harris Fellows who are currently members of the Club. The Paul Harris Fellowship is named for one of the three Rotary founders and recognizes an individual’s support for the humanitarian and educational programs of The Rotary Foundation. To receive the Paul Harris Fellow recognition, a sum of at least $1,000 has been donated to The Rotary Foundation in the member’s name.

The Rotary Foundation is Rotary International’s global charity for 1.2 million Rotarians throughout the world. These men and women are located in over 35,000 clubs across the world. The Rotary Foundation finances Rotary’s humanitarian projects such as eliminating polio throughout the world, responding to natural disasters, on going projects benefiting children, women’s health, literacy, clean water and educating people in peaceful solutions to conflict.

In addition to this recognition, seven Rotarians were recognized as Major Donors to The Rotary Foundation. Major Donor levels are graduated in $10,000 increments. Spouses may be included in this recognition.

First Level: Art and Caroline Brown, Bob and Judy Lair, and Ernest Mahler.

Second Level: Larry and Alex Poe and Ben and Peggy Woodward. In addition to being a recognized as a Second Level Major Donor, Ben Woodward was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow +7 pin.

Third Level: Fred Hartley, current President of the the Rotary Club of Tryon, was recognized as the only Third Level Major Donor in the club.

Future recognition will be given to those Rotarians in the Benefactor status as well as one member of the Bequest Society Level.
