Polk Middle wrestlers bring home two conference titles

Polk County Middle’s wrestling squad capped its 2018-19 season Saturday with a pair of individual championships and a second-place finish at the Blue Ridge Athletic Conference tournament in Waynesville.

Angus Weaver and Topher Pearson each earned BRAC championships. Weaver capped an undefeated season with his title while Pearson also finished a champion as Polk Middle earned its first individual championships since the 2013-14 season, when Braden Miller and Devin Panchyshyn each won titles.

Bryan Sumano brought home a runner-up finish to add to the successful day for Wolverine wrestling.

Weaver and Sumano are eighth graders while Pearson is in seventh grade.
