Avery JV boys edge Polk County

Avery built a seven-point halftime lead Friday and held on to defeat Polk County 38-34 in boys junior varsity basketball action in Newland.
Polk County dropped to 8-8 overall, 2-4 against Western Highlands Conference opponents.
Davin Hines scored 10 points to pace Polk County, with Nate Henderson and Bryson Edwards each scoring eight points and grabbing three rebounds.
Ben Hardin had four points and three rebounds, with Shaq Wingo adding two points and three rebounds and Nate Mann scoring two points.
Polk County is slated to return to action on Wednesday, traveling to Mitchell for another WHC matchup.
