TDDA, Tryon Historical Museum partner for shared space

The Tryon Downtown Development Association is entering a shared space partnership with the Tryon Historical Museum.

The TDDA Board of Directors and Tryon Historical Museum Board of Directors have worked together to come to an agreement on sharing office space. TDDA will soon be moving in with the Tryon Historical Museum, allowing for cost savings on both organizations and to create more opportunities to tell Tryon’s story, representatives said.

The Tryon Historical Museum currently has volunteer docents who open the museum Thursday-Saturday each week, and in the future will increase days the museum is staffed with volunteer docents.

“This is a great opportunity for us to increase activity at the Tryon Historical Museum and utilize our space more effectively for Tryon,” said Jamie Carpenter, executive director of the Tryon Downtown Development Association.

TDDA has had an office in the Shops of Tryon for several years and would like to thank John Garguilo for his generosity during the time TDDA called this space home.

For the move, TDDA will be selling several pieces of furniture that officials will not be able to take with them in the new space. Those interested in learning more may call 828-859-6484.

The TDDA’s phone number, email and post office box will remain the same. The address for the Tryon Historical Museum/Future TDDA office is 26 Maple St., Tryon.
