On Thursday, Jan. 17, members of the Rotary Club of Tryon were out picking up trash and debris along the entrance to downtown Tryon on U.S. 176. The activity was part of the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s “Adopt a Highway” program, and was led by Rotarian John Gargiulo. The Adopt a Highway Program is designed to keep the state’s highways clean and to bring attention to litter prevention. Participants in the recent cleanup are pictured: Jim Robards, Bill Hillhouse, Art Brown, John Gargiulo and Fred Hartley. (Submitted by Bill Hillhouse)
