Wrestler’s final paces Polk at Saunooke tourney

Trey Thompson reached his first tournament final Saturday to lead Polk County’s wrestlers at the Chief Osley B. Saunooke Memorial Tournament in Cherokee.
Thompson pushed his way to the championship match in the 170-pound class before falling to A.C. Reynolds’ Max Pirez.
Three other Wolverines finished in the top four in their weight classes at the 14-team event, those being Collier Foster (106), Preston Burnett (126) and Brennan Worthington (132).
Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, won the team competition at the tournament, with Swain and Mitchell rounding out the top three.
Polk County will return to Western Highlands Conference competition on Thursday, traveling to Mitchell.
