Tryon Parks Committee honors late member with trail dedication

Published 8:00 am Tuesday, January 8, 2019

In early May 2018, the Vaughn Creek Greenway was fortunate to have a number of AmeriCorps volunteers offer their services. During their visit to Tryon, they created a short trail to Siller’s Falls along the Vaughn Creek Greenway. Also in 2018, the Tryon Parks Committee lost a member, Terry Ackerman. Recently, the committee designated the short hike to Siller’s Falls as Terry’s Trail in honor of Ackerman. Participating in the dedication were Susie Hursey, Monica Jones, Jerry Soderquist and Julia Ernst. Terry’s Trail is only 80 yards in length, and the parks committee is encouraging folks to park at the Vaughn Creek Picnic Shelter on New Market Road and walk to the falls. (Submitted photo)
