Vikings spoil conference opener for Wolverine wrestlers

Avery won the first seven matches Thursday and went on to notch a 56-18 win over Polk County in Western Highlands Conference wrestling at Polk.
It was the conference opener for the Wolverines.
Bryce Thompson scored the lone win on the mat for Polk County, taking command of a hard-fought match with Avery’s Lane Hoilman in the second period and recording a pin.
Wolverines Deacon Nodine and Satchel McCoy won their matches by forfeit to account for the remainder of Polk County’s points.
Polk County wrestlers are slated to return to the mat on Saturday, traveling to Cherokee for the Cherokee Individual Tournament.
