Members of the Polk County Memorial VFW Auxiliary No. 5116 in Columbus spent their summer knitting hats for clients at Steps to HOPE. The hats were delivered to Steps to HOPE by 94-year-old Margaret Ballew (center) and the chapter president, Joyce B. Preston (left), who are pictured with Sandra Halford, director of Client Services at Steps to HOPE. The hats will be a cozy reminder to the recipients that someone cares, organization representatives said.
