Linda Thompson Gillie, 77, of Columbus, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018, at Autumn Care in Saluda, North Carolina.

Linda was the daughter of the late Calvin Howard and Thelma Bradshaw Thompson.

She was a graduate of Tryon High School.

Linda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping trips, playing golf and cheering on the Atlanta Braves. 

Linda enjoyed helping others. She was a past volunteer at the Meeting Place and Polk County Meals on Wheels. She was a past member of Links of Tryon Country Club and a longtime member of Mill Spring First Baptist Church.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Irvin Ray Gillie; and a brother, Gary Thompson.

Surviving is a daughter, Sharon Green of Columbus; two sons, Chris Gillie (Kristy) of Landrum, South Carolina, and Craig Gillie (Kathryn) of Tryon, North Carolina. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Derrick Lynch, William Green, and Colin, Christian and Carson Gillie.

A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at Mill Spring First Baptist Church in Mill Spring, North Carolina, with the Rev. David Bame officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-1:45 p.m.

Interment will follow in Mill Spring First Baptist Church Cemetery.
