Polk County’s battle with foul trouble helped East Henderson take a 57-42 win Wednesday in a nonconference boys basketball game in Flat Rock.
The Wolverines (0-3), still missing several players from the school’s football team, saw Clark Phipps pick up his third foul in the second quarter and Amir Gary and Keyandre Thomas each foul out early in the fourth period.
Polk trailed East Henderson (1-2) just 38-30 entering the final quarter, but the Eagles pulled away late for the final margin.
Dominique Carson scored 13 points to lead Polk County, with Gary adding 11 points and Phipps finishing with 10. Thomas added seven, with Kiyon Staley scoring one.
Alex Taylor scored 22 points to lead East Henderson.
The Wolverines will return home Tuesday to host Cherryville in another nonconference battle.
