Jerry James Carruth

Jerry James Carruth, 71, of Landrum, passed away on Nov. 20, 2018. 

He was the son of the late James and Brooks Griffin Carruth.

He was a member of Landrum First Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Landrum High School and Wofford College.

He is survived by a daughter, Carlton Anne Carruth, and her mother, Saralu Epton Carruth; three sisters, Jean Plumley Boyce (John), Betty Pryor and Frances Smith (Benny); a brother-in-law, Harold Burns (Candace); and many nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by a sister, Harriette Burns; and two brothers-in-law, Bill Pryor and John Plumley.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at Landrum First Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Michael Doty. 

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family desires memorials to be sent to the Jerry James Carruth Memorial Fund at First Citizens Bank. Proceeds will go to Columbia International University — CIU Bible Study Program for incarcerated individuals who wish to apply biblical principles in ministering to others.
