Wolverine Wrestling Club brings home honors in debut

The Wolverine Wrestling Club made its debut on Saturday at a North Carolina USA Wrestling event at Madison High School, with nine team members competing.

Styler Blackwell led the WWC group with a first-place finish in his division, going 4-0 for the day.

Three other Wolverine wrestlers — R.J. Simpson, Nolan Simpson and Casey Beiler — earned second-place finishes.

Also competing for the club were Carson Bell, Brayden Pratt, Landin Pollard, Eli Cochran and Oakley Whiteside.

First-year Polk County wrestling coach Adam Dedmon helped start the club, which he hopes to grow the sport in Polk County.
