Saluda School was recently recognized as a Distinguished Title 1 School Finalist.
Out of approximately 1,500 Title 1 schools in North Carolina, only 15 were identified for this honor. The list was narrowed again to the top 1 percent, and Saluda School was selected as one of two finalists in the category of High Performance.
A three-member team from the department of public instruction visited Saluda School on Oct. 17 to interview parents, students, volunteers, faculty and tour the school.
“It is an honor to be recognized as the second school out of the 115 school districts in the state for demonstrating exemplary school effectiveness and high standards. I appreciate the dedication of our parents, staff, volunteers, community members, and, of course, our students,” said Principal Cari Maneen.
Saluda School earned the National Title 1 Distinguished School Honor for High Performance in 2016-17.
A ceremony to recognize the 15 National Title 1 Distinguished School nominees was held in Greensboro. Polk County was the only school district with more than one school represented. Tryon Elementary was also a nominee.
