TACS to host reception for holiday gift show, artist of the month Friday

Published 8:13 pm Thursday, November 8, 2018

Tryon Arts & Crafts School will present its annual Holiday Gift Show, Lil Angels Ornament benefit and Artist of the Month Lynda Evans this Friday night.

TACS invites the public to kick-off the Thanksgiving and Holiday spirit at 6 p.m. that evening. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served to guests, who can browse hundreds of arts and crafts gift items on display in the school’s main gallery.

The Holiday Gift Show is designed to drive seasonal retail sales, increase revenue for the nonprofit school and showcase the eclectic talents of local artists.

All sales are cash-and-carry. Artists will restock their inventory following sales, so craft-loving shoppers can return throughout the month to see the additional inventory.

The show runs from Friday to Dec. 22.

Local artists have donated ornaments, which will be hung on TACS’ tree.

Ornament sales go to the Lil’ Angels benefit. This year’s Lil’ Angels beneficiaries are local children in need of financial assistance to participate in TACS’ Summer Sizzler arts and crafts camps.

Adjacent to the gallery is the Artist of the Month area, which will display large-scale charcoal drawings of the human figure by local artist Lynda Evans. Evans is a master of photorealist drawing, school representatives said.
