Musician to perform at free family concert at FENCE Sunday

Foothills Equestrian Nature Center will welcome the public to enjoy a musical performance by Christina Chandler at 4 p.m. Sunday.
Once a month, FENCE offers a free, family concert for the community to enjoy. Following the performance, refreshments will be served.
Chandler has been making music since she was 6 years old, beginning with writing her own songs, eventually competing in talent shows, performing in musicals, singing in church and school choirs, and taking advantage of any chance to grow and learn as a vocalist.
She went to The University of Memphis on scholarship for performing with renowned U of M band, Sound Fuzion, and then on to perform professionally in local Memphis band, Venus Mission, gaining experience and building a reputation as a strong vocalist and performer.
Chandler relocated to Asheville in 2009, and returned to her songwriting roots, picking up guitar and ukulele, writing new tunes and pursuing creative collaborations. Chandler found her home with local group The Freewheelin’ Mamas, and continues to work as a soloist as well, performing throughout Western North Carolina. Christina uses an array of instruments to self-accompany: acoustic guitar, concert ukulele, hand percussion, and live looping.
Her voice has been described as a cross between Dolly Parton and Susan Tedeschi, concert organizers said.
The Kirby Endowment at the Polk County Community Foundation has made the event possible.
The Foothills Equestrian Nature Center is located at 3381 Hunting Country Road in Tryon, North Carolina. Those interested in learning more may call 828-859-9021 or email info@fence.org.
