High waters

Parts of the Foothills area experienced flooding Thursday, after heavy rains and high winds rolled into the area late Wednesday night. Several roadways, including portions of Highway 176, were closed due to waters spilling over from local rivers and creeks into the roadway. In addition, around 3,500 Columbus, Mill Spring and Tryon residents were without power throughout much of the day, after a main transmission line was damaged, requiring crews from Duke Energy to repair it.
