‘Docksteder’ author to appear at the Book Shelf Saturday
Published 8:00 am Friday, October 12, 2018
Guests may enjoy a glass of wine with author Paul Buchanan at The Book Shelf in Tryon from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
The Book Shelf is located at 86 N Trade St., Tryon. Buchanan will be there to meet visitors, chat about writing and sign copies of books in his “Docksteder Tales” series.
Buchanan is a retired physician, flight surgeon, commercial pilot and flight instructor. He is a former NASA executive, and was crew physician for at least two historic NASA missions.
He is the author or co-author of dozens of articles published in medical and scientific journals, many having to do with the physiological and life-support issues to be faced in future long-duration space missions. On retirement from NASA, Buchanan turned his attention to writing fiction.
“Docksteder Tales Book 1: The Carolinas” was released last December, and is the first in a series of novels. It tells the story of a famously eccentric author who moves to the Foothills of North Carolina (Tryon, actually), where he takes a young writer as his protégé and introduces him to the wilder side of life.
Buchanan’s newly released “Docksteder Tales Book 2: New Orleans,” picks up where book one left off, and follows Docksteder’s protégé as he embarks on an adventure to New Orleans. There, his mentor’s cryptic notes and a fateful encounter lead him to a woman who introduces him to the seductive side of “Carnival.”
Both works are available in ebook and audiobook formats from the usual sources, and in print wherever books are sold.
