Friends of the Polk County Public Libraries to host fall book sale next week

The Friends of the Polk County Public Libraries Fall Book Sale will take place Wednesday through Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Columbus Library at 1289 W. Mills St.

The first day of the sale, from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, is a special preview day for friends members only, open exclusively for current friends and for those who join the group that day.

Membership forms will be at the book sale and also can be downloaded at polklibrary.org/support/friends.

The Fall Book Sale dates and hours are:

• Preview day for friends only from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday

• 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday

• 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, with select books offered for free starting at 3 p.m.

• 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, with the $5 bag sale from 9 a.m. to noon

The Fall Book Sale will feature thousands of gently used items, including a wide array of fiction and nonfiction titles in hardcover and paperback, as well as DVDs and CDs. Items have been donated by members of the community or withdrawn from circulation at the Polk County Public Libraries.

The Friends Book Sales are the primary fundraisers for the nonprofit friends group, with all proceeds going to support library projects and initiatives such as the summer reading programs, special events, professional development opportunities for library staff, appreciation events for library volunteers and free programs for adults and children.
